PROMOTING SOLUTIONS TO CENTRAL OREGON'S HOUSING CRISIS

IT'S TIME FOR BOLD ACTION.

The housing crisis in Central Oregon means that essential workers like nurses, teachers and first responders can't find an affordable place to live and work here. Our workforce needs adequate housing to support a strong economy. Partners for Affordable Housing are asking elected leaders to do more to lower the cost of housing for workforce families.

WE CAN CHART A NEW PATH.

Partners for Affordable Housing is made up of diverse organizations committed to promoting creative solutions to Central Oregon's housing crisis. From accessing more land for housing to lowering the cost of fees for affordable and workforce homes–we can prioritize supporting families, if we choose.

WE NEED NEW SOLUTIONS.

More and more community members are slipping into homelessness because of the lack of affordable homes. Organizations involved in Partners for Affordable Housing are asking local government leaders to develop new solutions that help builders, developers and nonprofits get more homes built at lower costs–and reduce homelessness.

Our Story

About Partners for Affordable Housing

Partners for Affordable Housing was created in 2010 with a mission to “initiate and provide opportunities for Central Oregon residents to live in safe, affordable housing and to help develop, preserve, and revitalize our communities.”

Back then, the nonprofit was called Building Partners for Affordable Housing, and was founded by Central Oregon Builders Association. Builders worked together to fund affordable housing projects by securing several parcels of land to offer substantially discounted homesites. This assisted builders in cost reductions, enabling them to build homes at an affordable price for Central Oregonians.

But these days, builders aren’t the only community members committed to finding solutions to reducing housing costs.

Now organizations including teachers unions, nursing unions, first responder associations, the Bend Chamber, and housing advocates like RootedHomes, Bend YIMBY and Central Oregon Realtors Association are all coming together to ask elected leaders how we can do more to reduce housing costs in Bend and around the region.

It will take all of us working together to solve this crisis, and Partners for Affordable Housing is here to support our community to advocate for strategies that will make the difference.
